…I’d read these books that I saw at work today. An except from the reading wishlist of a librarian who knows that she’ll never be able to read everything she wants to in only one lifetime!
No new books came in today, so I went to a local big bookstore chain to collect some titles.
+ McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern – a periodical that (at least for this particular issue) came in the form of a hardback book with an extra comic section wrapped around the cover. It’s been in the Graphic Novel section of the store for a few months. No one who works there has noticed that they have put a periodical with the graphic novels. No graphic novel reader is likely to mistake McSweeney’s for a comic, so it’s not likely to sell anytime soon, although it’s great fun to read. *sigh* (adult, periodical, literature)
+ The Homecoming – by Ray Bradbury, illus. by Dave McKean (adult, fiction, fantasy)
+ Lily Dale: The True Story of the Town that Talks to the Dead – Christine Wicker (adult, nonfiction, Spiritualist movement, American history)
+ The Nasty Bits: Collected Varietal Cuts, Useable Trim, Scraps, and Bones – Anthony Bourdain (adult, nonfiction, essays, cookery)
